I have been doing a MASSIVE clearing of weeds in our backyard near the creek. This is the 2nd pile, the first pile was about 4 times this size…
There were three varieties of plants that were lovely and green but were noxious weeds, and as weeds do, were taking over. After all the clearing I was so excitied to see spaces I had never seen in the 5 years we have been here. I think I got back about 10 square metres of ground. Elfie our cat had a fun play in the middle of a fern tree newly freed of blackberry and ivy vines.
On seeing the new space someone commented that if would be a lovely area to sit in under the ferns for a picnic. So this began the making of some mushroom stools. Inspired by Rusty Keeler from Earthplay and his book “Natural Playscapes” the creating began ~
There were some large stumps from a tree that fell a couple of years ago that I rolled over and somehow got up the bank. Maybe I am stronger that I think! I try to use what’s on hand as much as possible so as I had blue outdoor paint, the stumps became blue toadstools.
