Kookaburra

This is our latest friend who has been visiting us in our backyard over the last few weeks.

She has been very inquisitive watching us garden and play in the yard. Kookaburras are well known for their laugh, but often they can be in the trees being very quiet and still without you realising they are there. They are very patient and wait for just the right time to quickly swoop down and get their prey. Last week as I was walking down towards the creek and a branch I needed to pass had the kookaburra sitting on it. I took the opportunity to sit down and enjoy her company for a while. It was a good reminder to take time to stop and really enjoy my surroundings. Kookaburras can become very friendly so I am hoping she will learn to trust us and come and visit us on our balcony.
